In physics, time is defined as the interval between any two events. There is no absolute unit to define time. The concept of time comes from the rotation and revolution of heavenly bodies. Time is the quantity that is yet to be understood by the scientist. Many have tried to understand and put forward theories but they only understand it up to the point that it is a fundamental quantity which helps in solving other problems of nature. The scientist has understood it up to the point that where it can help in figuring out other natural laws and problems of motion and gravity but time is still a big attraction to scientist and great minds.
When I was a child, I remember watching a movie scene, in which due to some reason, I don’t know what, time suddenly stops and with it everything that was happening also stops.
Can you imagine that everything has stopped, even a single leaf cannot move?
This scene was shown as
I remember, not very clearly though, but I can explain it as if a boy was
throwing a ball in the air but the ball didn’t fall instead it stopped in the
middle air and the boy also became a statue. Similarly, the birds and the
airplane that are once flying in the air stopped suddenly in the mid-air and
didn’t fall as if the gravity is vanished out of the whole universe.
If you can perceive the concept of time then, you
can imagine that nothing can proceed further in future if the time stopped. Every single action performed by us is a series of event that is spread in time moving forward and by the definition of time, that is, time is the interval
between two events, let’s say, consecutive events, and now if time stops, then no one and nothing proceed to the next event, i.e. everything that is going on in
the whole universe will stop immediately as if all the energy has been
withdrawn out of the universe at once and no energy has left. The objects cannot even fall to the ground because then, it will lead to another event which is not possible because time has stopped. Scientifically, you can
say that gravity does not exist that was responsible for pulling something or
someone to the ground.
Let it be the kinetic energy in the body which was
in motion or the potential energy stored in the electric field or gravitational
field, all will vanish at once.
The major concept that is given till date about time
is the theory of relativity by a renowned German physicist Albert Einstein. It
is also proved to be correct in classical nature.
A simple understanding of relativity tells us that
time runs differently for two different people if they are travelling at
different velocity, and the one travelling with greater velocity than other
will experience slower passing of time than the one travelling with relatively
lower velocity.
The point to be noted here is that I, the third
person, seeing the other two-person conclude that the time will pass at slower the rate for the person with relatively higher velocity and a faster rate for the one
travelling with slower velocity but the perception of time as an individual,
will be same for both.
Nowadays, time travel has become famous among
scientist and young scientific minds. It might just be thought and imagination
and some rough ideas that are yet to theorize and yet to be proven but it
already has already been depicted in stories and TV series and cinemas. It has got much
more imaginary concepts and theories in TV series and cinemas. Many books have
also written to depict the consequences of imaginary time travel that is not
yet been proven. Many new terms have been originated in the process like time
breach and timeline. Who knows the future, what might happen in the future and
what new concepts of nature may get revealed to the humans? But one thing is
true till now is that time is still a mystery to scientist and humans even
though the concept of the behavior of time with respect to the velocity has been
discovered and understood by humans.
What do you think about time and how much do you
agree with me? Feel free to comment below and one more thing, write your thought
about time travel, can it be true what do you think?
